All I Want for Christmas is a Bigger Doggie Bed

When a neighbor sold their house and left their cat, he wouldn't let anyone near him and lived under their shed for over a year. I fed him twice a day and last winter slipped on the mud and went under the shed myself. Luckily, the cat didn't want to spend another cold winter outside and decided to swallow his pride and come live with us. I bought him a comfy bed, but all he wants is my dog, Lucky's. When I let them in after a walk, they gallop through the house to get to it. The first one there gets the best spot. But don't worry, I'm going to get them the biggest one I can find.

All books now on Kindle and Nook

As I was on my 42-bookstore tour, I was so stunned at how many people wanted to read my books on Kindle or Nook that when I got back to my usual routine of writing, I contacted all three of my publishers and asked them to put my books on e-readers. I don't personally own one of these devices, but I opened a Kindle account and am downloading books to my laptop and computer. It works!

New Book Coming Along

I'm in the throws of writing my sixth novel that takes place in Fairview, NC. This lush valley is located at the Hickory Nut Gap just before Route 74 starts its climb into the Hickory Nut Gorge that runs through Bat Cave, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. I'm loving researching this novel because this is an extraordinary farming community...past and present. I'm trying to write at least 500 words a day to make a May 1, 2011 deadline. My recently widowed heroine returns to the mountains with her daughter to resolve an injustice. One of the men who courts her feels there's something else she's seeking to resolve other than the stealing of the family farm by her brother. Anyone who wants to do a little research on this fascinating area on their own can go to . Also, what they're doing to reestablish sustainable family farms is very exciting. You can also read about that at .
